宁夏大学始建于1958年，坐落在素有塞上江南美称的宁夏回族自治区首府银川市。1997年年底，与宁夏工学院、银川师专(含宁夏教育学院)四校合并，2002年又与宁夏农学院合并，组建新的宁夏大学。
